Institute Profile

Porbandar is situated on the western coast line of Gujarat. The city called Sudamapuri, in the ancient time, has the privilege to be associated with two well known names from different fields. Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi and Sudama, close friend of Shri Krishna. With a population of 3 lakh Porbandar District has variety of industries like cement, bearings, fishing, chemicals, soda-ash, bauxites, abrasives, etc. it is also one of the busiest ports of Gujarat. It is 400 km. away from Ahmedabad and 185 km from Rajkot. It is connected by Rail, Road and Air routes with the country.

The institute was established in 1960, and shifted in the new building in 1965. the campus measuring about 14 hactres (35 acres) is full of developed trees and greeneries. A large play area is used by students for outdoor sports. The institute is rich enough in building facilities.

Main building : consists of offices, students’ section, class rooms, drawing rooms, staff rooms, lavatory blocks etc.

Laboratory wings: mechanical lab, electrical lab., electronics lab., hydraulics lab. App. Mechanics lab., general lab.

Workshop: consists carpentry shop, fitting shop, turning and milling shop, welding shop, tin smithy shop etc.

The central admission committee handles the procedure of admission on merit basis. The admission for group 1 of d.l.m. students is done at institute level. It is formed for the working technical person.

Industries Institute interactive cell:

Institute has an active I.I.I.cell, which maintains live linkage with the industries in the surrounding area. Industrial and technical tours are arranged for the students. Technical lectures, by experts from fields are occasionally arranged. The campus interviews are arranged at institute, as per the need of markets.

In the technical education field, the institute has long prestigious image. The institute provides best possible learning environment to the students. The past students of the institute has shown their capabilities at various levels in the fields. They have acquired high posts and positions in their respective fields. The Civil course of this institute has been awarded “accredited” , by N.B.A., A.I.C.T.E., in August-2005.
